So I decided to compromise, and go mining. Since I was getting off to a late start, I decided, I would head up to Jeff's claim, the drive is not to bad and the hike is a lot shorter.
I Thought it would be a good day to shoot a video on "how to open and work a crevice", so I grabbed the filming equipment. After the short drive and hike it wasn't very long before I was on the creek.
I hiked around a bit looking for good crevicing, I found one that fit the bill pretty good. It wasn't in the best of locations as far as getting some nice gold but it was an excellent crevice for demonstrating how to work one. The best part, there was a large bolder just upstream so I could get some aerial shots.
The filming went pretty good and took about 3 to 4 hours. The day turned out to be a real fun one. I finished my video, found almost a penny weight worth of gold. And still made it home early enough to get a few of the chores done. I would call that a pretty good day.
